A small site about birding optics — binoculars mostly, scopes when the subject demands it, and the field craft that makes either worth carrying. New pieces once or twice a month.

Most of what people want to know about a binocular is already public. Exit pupil, field of view and eye relief are published numbers, and the interesting part is not finding them but working out what they mean for someone standing on a headland at first light.
